shalan hess
A georgia-born visual artist and co-creator of the youngs bay bowery brand, Shalan has utilized the space's vast interior as her studio for the past year.
rather than paint what she sees, shalan paints what she wants to see: characters with dark and strange backstories, deities, folk art, and sometimes cats.
Painting in a variety of form and medium, she refuses to be pinned down by a certain style.
She is currently working on her very first full scope series entitled, "under the sun of another world."
